Okay so i am tight halfords want

I tried a pair of these a few weeks ago on a business trip to France.

My verdict?

... and they leave a nasty sticky mess on the outer lens of the light, which DOES NOT "just wash off" or whatever the packet says.:(

Haven't tried them yet, but my Dealer (MKG in Stevenage) gave me some that should fit an Octy, and said they would fit them for me with their MOT beam alignment check (for free). They look like the Halfords ones. I have the headlamp covers on already, so I can take them off when getting back to the UK, and worry about getting rid of the sticky gunk later. Can't tell you whether it is successful until August though!!

I used black insulating tape on my old Focus two years ago, perfectly adequate and legal. If there's no guidance in the handbook about the exact positions, just park up 6 yards from a wall in the dark, switch on your dipped beam, and place the tape such that the portion of the beam that shines high up to the left is blocked out. Pretty easy to do, costs pennies.

Gaffer tape for me

Look at the bulb, it has a hexagonal cover over it. Deflector goes in line with the / part of the hexagon.

I dont bother with anything, I tried the tape route and found I couldnt see anything. Dook ,nice to hear my local dealer being as helpfull as ever.

Okay i gave in and bought some, but was very ****ed off so for all you others out there taking your car abroad here is a word of advice.

I'm sure I used to have a template somewhere, but it was no use on my L&K's xenon's. In fact, I'm sure it was available for download on the "previous" Briskoda version.
