Play, play, play, play... break

Featured Replies

So I've been happily playing with the VAG COM (ebay thingy, registered 409 software) on the until tonight.

Decided to add a beep to the locking on the Octavia; used adaptation changed the 0 to a 1. Car still locked and unlocked but no beep. Ah well, turned the 1 back to a 0.

Thought I'd try the selective unlocking thingy, so used coding & tweaked the value. Worked as expected Realised I'd get bored with it and set if back. Went back to working as previous. Hurrah.

Then couldn't get back into central conv. All the other modules were fine, but no response from the central conv. I tried disconnecting, reconnecting, rebooting, taking the ignition out and putting it back but no joy.

The car worked as I'd expected, but just couldn't connect into the central conv.

Finally I disconnected the battery for 5 mins, and on reconnection I could get back in as expected - hurrah.

So any ideas why it would have locked me out? Is this usual?

Nope. Not usual but has been reported with the eBay cables before. Can I say that you get what you pay for?

Tighten, then a bit more, a bit more.

Snap.

OK, back it off a quarter :thumbdwn:

Why I tend to touch little on the car
