Has anyone put rear parking sensors afterwards?

It would be too expensive to do it in Skoda dealer, so I thought doing it my self.

I bought Cobra Parkmaster, with four sensors.

Any ideas how should wires pull into the trunk?

Are there any hole ready under the trunk, or should I drill holes there?

I'm also interested in about this mod. It seems that always when reversing I just can't get hold to the measurements behind my car, ie. when I think that now the rear is almost crashing the car behind me, in reality there is at least 1 meter space left.

I think that you need to drill the holes by yourself but I also would be interested if there is wiring loom already existing for this purpose..

Not sure about the Superb, but most cars have a grommet or two in the rear panel behind the bumper.

The wiring loom wont be there, as they are normally attached to the sensors.

its a pretty straightforward job to do, but either measure the position of OEM sensors on another Superb, or remove the plastic rubbing strip in the bumper prior to drilling to make sure nothing will stop the sensor from fitting into the bumper.

They can be fitted with the bumper in situ, although running the wires would be easier with the bumper removed

When I fitted my towbar I found a large grommet with a membrane visible on the right hand side when you take the bumper off. It's easy enough to make a small hole in it so that the cable is sealed to the body, backed up with a smear of silicone sealer. The cable comes out in the boot below the RH rear light.

What about the car's that you 'nudge' with the towbar then?!?!?

The Cobra system is one of the best (and easiest) I have fitted, gets a thumbs up from me. Personally I colour code the sensors as per instructions (usually has a little masking ring that sits inside the sensor to protect it from the paint) and mount them directly into the bumper using a hole/cone cutter and hen feed the wires down and then into the boot mounting the control unit in the spare wheel well.

I try to install those in the weekend. And if I remember, I'll take some pictures..

And so that nobody wonders why I'm putting parking sensors, I'll say that they are for my wife.

Well, I did it!

It took about four hours, because I had not so much ideas, how to do it.

I had to remove rear bumber and both tail lights. Also had to open some of the interior from the trunk.

There are places ready for sensors in the bumber.

Because the bumber isn't completly flat, those sensor are little bit in the air from ends (look in the pictures).

I have tested parking with sensors only couple of times, but it seems that those works perfectly!

My seven year interest/yearning in getting a towbar fitted evaporated about a year ago when my Passat B5 got shunted while stationary by a Golf that had been stationary! The only damage to my car was scratched bumper cover and a bent bar - the impact dampers had moved and absorbed most of the impact saving the body. Now if I had got a towbar fitted, the impact would have transferred straight through to the car body. Even with that protection, the A/C trim panel came unclipped and could not be refitted properly. Only last Friday I discovered why this had happened - the rear shunt had transmitted enough of the impact into the body shell to fracture the center console lower fixing points - had to fit repair wahers cut to size. Hummmm!

Looks like you have done a great job there mate and it almost looks OEM......well done!!!

1. Was the price of the Cobra 190e or did you get any discounts off that? Was it available from any Web-shop? (I'm also located in Finland:)

2. How loud is the noise from the main unit? I guess you installed it to trunk (inside spare tyre?) so how well can you hear the beep to the cabin?

Price for Cobra unit is not bad, although I'm considering also a lot cheaper options...like this from Biltema:

I thought of buying that too, but then I heard that it's not reliable (is any Biltema products reliable ).

I'd say that forget those cheap models! For example, if you had VW Golf -95, then it would be ok to put Biltema sensors, but not in Superb.
