Engine warning light???

Featured Replies

:( :( Hi all, i bought a fabia vrs sunday! and the yellow/orange engine warning light has come on! then after about 100 miles went out again! now after about another 100 miles has come back on! has anyone had this? any ideas whats the cause? im a bit gutted as i have only just got it! private sale also! any hep would be great!

Thanks in advance fellas:thumbup:

Possibly an intermittent fault which will get progressively worse (when my lambda probes went the on-off pattern was similar until it came on all the time)...only way you'll know what it means is to get it on a diagnostic computer - either VAG-COM or a dealer/specialist...

Thanks for the prompt reply! how much is a lambda sensor?

In limp mode does it limit the power?

No idea on the cost of lamba sensors, haven't got round to getting it fixed... :)

It might not actually be in limp mode just because the engine warning light's on - does the car drive any differently when the light's on?

Not really had it long enough to tell if its running any different? seems ok but it does seem to be a little slower? this may just be in my head though?

The traction control,ABS AND POWER STEERING lights came on last night for a spell! and the speedo stopped working also!

It would be best to get it plugged into VAG-COM to fully determine the problem. This would tell you which Lambda sensor thats gone if it is.

I am in Kent with it if that helps.

Doesnt sound like its too happy at the moment... theres definately something wrong.... as suggested above get it plugged in and see what if any errors it throws up!

Im in lancaster with VAG-COM if any good to ya?

Cheers fellas for the use of the vag-com! im based in Tamworth staffs though! all lights have now gone out and all seems well! did 340 miles yesterday and seems fine!( TOUCH WOOD). we shall see????

All the faults will be logged in the ecu for when you get chance to get them read.

And I can gurantee your fault wont be a lambda sensor.

Just had a rough quote of

  • 3 months later...

I have had my engine warning light coming on and off for 6 months. I even had a Car Running Data Recorder fitted for several weeks, and nothing showed up!
