I,m working on fitting a hatch (boot ) remote release to my 04 classic, which don't have any form of central locking. Can't get any details of the actuator fitted to those with remote boot release, but got a pointer to doing the job with a standard actuator.

From the looks of the boot release catch it is designed for the cable to enter from either side.On UK drive cars it enters from the left, leaving a similar fitments on the right. My ideas go along the lines of fitting an actuator in a box in the spare wheel well, held by the nuts holding the rear boot cover and using the old bicycle cable operatng system as a model - thats might give you something to go on for the mechanicals - sorry can't help you with the other side .
