ABS, ESP engine workshop and glowplug lights on!!! Help.

Featured Replies

Drove half a mile this morning and got first the Abs and the Esp lights turned on. So I turn back to change car and get Engine workshop on the display and the glow plug light flashing as well. Whats going on??? I bought the car a 1.9tdi with 114K miles FSH 3 months ago and have just done 2500 miles round europe with not a single problem. Pads have only done 5K and brake fluid is fine. Ive booked it in at Duttons but over the phone they wouldnt say if it was safe to drive to them or not. Appart from the lights it drove the short distance home fine. Has any one got any ideas what might be wrong and is it safe to drive 2 miles to the dealers workshop. icon9.gif

I got the ESP and check engine light problem..

Did a diagnoise and found out my E-thottle Sensor (petrol) problem.

Waiting for the replacement to come in.

When the esp light is on you are unable to boost at all.

Start and restart the car a few times and the esp light will disappear and the check engine light will be on and you can boost.

Could be a brake light switch, but all guess work until the fault codes are read.

Thanks for that guys. Checked the break lights and nothing, that fuse has blown. Dont have any spares so it will still go to Duttons as it has to be working for Friday. Would that make the dash centre panel show "engine workshop" and the glow plug coil flash or do I have 2 problems within 5 mins of each other.

Either way many thanks Lummox.

Hi, I would think that, as Lummox has said, it is your brake light switch that is faulty and not a fuse. Its a common failure and easy to replace with a new modified type - what I mean is don't save money using someone's cast-off.
