Just got back from my holiday and the A/c side of the Climatic Control of my Octavia is not working. It heats okay but is not very cold when set to Low.

When I start the car the screen on the Climatic shows the following message:-

Diagnose 888

I seem to have a similar problem, where any temperature above LO is hot, whether AUTO or ECON is selected!

Not sure about your a/c issues, but my passenger door was playing up too, then the battery went flat, changed the battery and all ok, then the new battery starting to go flat, door starts to play up, now alternator has packed up, hopefully, with new alternator, and new battery, it should be ok.
