Have I bought an old boiler?

Featured Replies

 New fab vrs last thurs.Only done 60 miles and rear tail bulb failed already! However of more intrest and amusement is this strange wooshing water rushing sound from the front, when I put the ignition on :bath: Just sounds like our old c/htg boiler when we turn that on! Any ideas anyone? :P colin

Mine has that kinda flowing water sound for half a second when switching the ignition on... I expect it's some fluid being pumped somewhere, something being primed, fuel perhaps?

Colin,

That will be the electric shower unit pre-heating the water. If you get your car Jabba'd, you'll find the unit becomes equivalent to a power-shower. Halfords are shortly to announce a new range of neon-lined in-car shower curtains for use with the above module. Damn Skoda, eh? They think of everything! Have you noticed the urinal hiden behind a flap at the rear of the car yet? :)

the nosie is completely normal it the fuel pump pumping fuel throught the pipes but manly the fuel cooler whitch is under the car on drivers side. as for the bulb probly just a dodgy bulb

 Thanks ade!!Yeah I have read this before now, apologies for asking! Stimpsy you old goat :D you wouldn't be taking the p one ss by any chance you old wag!! :D

Indeed its the pump priming the fuel system and nowt to worry about. You have two pumps on the PD, one electrical one in the tank (basically a lift pump),and one mechanical on the engine which is combined with the vacuum pump.

P.S in this field Ade is more qualified than me to answer I think, being a Skoda techie and all :)

Never heard of a fuel cooler before, didn't realise it got hot 'til it reached the pots,or even that it mattered. What's all that about then?

Pressure causes heat.

If you return hot fuel back to a plastic tank it melts basically. The fuel cooler prevents this.
