CD Help

Featured Replies

Hello peeps

long time lurker, first time poster - I've had most of my questions answered without having to ask thanks to the useful search function. This one though....

a couple of weeks back, Mrs NBT was listening to CD and decided to change it. Having pressed the button, the display on the head unit read "mechanic" and since the the CD multichanger has not responded. A search on the forum suggests that "mechanic" may possibly indicate moisture, but the area seems dry.

I unplugged and re-connected the lead into the multichanger, the head unit read "CD0 TR0", then switched to "mechanic". A second attempt gave the same result - this time Mrs NBT was trying to choose different discs and I was near the multichanger itself, listening - I heard no evidence of it powering up or doing anything.

It may be that it's just a blown fuse - however the book is not to hand, we've moved house and it's somewhere "safe for storage". We'll come across it eventually, I'm sure, but in the meantime if anyone can advise me as to which fuse I should check, or anything else I can try, it'd be very much appreciated, ta!

Ive had this a few times. Usually resolved by ejecting the magazine itself and blowing very hard inside the CD changer unit. Dont ask me why, but it works.

thanks for that - reminds me of the bit that I didn;t mention first time which is that there's no response from the multichanger at all, the eject button doesn't work, hence thinking that it may be a blown fuse

Ah, not sure what else to suggest then bar some kind of break in the cable?
