HID for Dipped Beam and light assist

Featured Replies

Hello guys this is my first post on the forum so please be a little gentle if this is repetitive i have a 1 .9Tdi PD 105bhp Elegance without Maxidot and Xenon.

Can i fit HID on Dipped Beam ?? if yes then will it work correctly ie if i have a faulty bulb will the light come on or am i better off getting white phillips bulbs ?? will it void the warranty.

secondly can i reduce the time for which the light stays on the car after i lock it. i have light asssist if yes then is there any person with a vag com in india specifically delhi.

and i read that the alarm can be set to chirp when i lock so i would like to know how the chirp is is it like the horn??

And also i would like to thank stu and others who have greatly helped me solve some problems and the trick for the Climatronic on/off button is very useful. Really appreciate the effort of you guys. Thanks in advance :)

Hi mate

You could fit an after market HID kit to the car, there are plenty around, but I don't think it would trigger the dash alert if a bulb was to fail. I could be wrong though. There are some "new" legal high output bulbs that the magazines seem to rate highly, the philips x-treme power Philips X-Treme Power H7 from Power Bulbs

When the alarm chirps it uses the built in alarm siren not the cars horn

Stu is a star, if I was a shirt lifter i'd kiss him :D

I hope some of this helps, cheers

im not sure about skodas, but to get around the "check bulb" systems in vx's i got sent a ballast pack that had some sort of extra resistance in it, to fool the ecu into thinking its a normal bulb. also ive seen some that have a extra bit of wiring with it in also.

Do you mean HID to the main beam ? I thought the Xenons were dipped and main standard halogen.

This is correct. Dipped is HID. You can get kits for converting to full Bi-Xenon, but they are not legal for use on road in the EU, but you may be fine in India.

As for changing the lights on delay, this is done through the convenience settings in the maxidot menu. Mine were set to 70 secs, which was a bit over the top, but now turn off at 30. Instructions for this should be in the manual, or just spend a bit of time playing with the settings till you find it.

The alarm chirp is not the horn, it is, well, a churp. Again IIRC, this is set in maxidot settings, so try it and see what you think.

Phil

If it's an earlier car it may not have the setting in Maxidot.

He doesn't have maxidot.

Yep, just re-read the OP. Please disgard everything I said, cos I'm stupid:P
