hi all.

i have an X reg 2.0 Elegance Octy estate with 40k on the clock, i have always had issues with the engine management light since purchase 3 years ago. it went back to White Dove in cardiff numerous times and had various oxygen/lamda sensors changed. sometimes it would cure it for months, other times it would cure it for miles.

when the warrenty expired i foolishly took it back to them to look at the latest light.

they cleared it for me saying they found no fault and then asked for £95. :eek:

since then it has been on for a while. recently it was not firing too well in the mornings, then it started to splutter and i took it a local back street garage that deals with german cars. first they changed the plugs, but it only got worse, then we changed the air mass filter and it was fine. no light...not for 24hrs anyway. the light is back on and now it is starting to hiccup a little and i'm worried that i'll never get it sorted.

have any of you had similar experiences and found ways to cure it?

i had similar problem with my 4x4 turbo octy. all i did was disconnect the vehicle battery for 5 minutes, reconnected it and the problem had disapeared. that was over 3 months ago and its never come back.

It might be worth trying to find someone close to you who has VAG COM, they could have a look for you.
