Xenon headlight bulbs

Featured Replies

Can you (and perhaps, should you?) fit xenon bulbs in the standard headlights?

I ask because Aldi have a £3.99 Xenon bulb kit as one of their special offers this weekend. Are the bulb seatings for headlights generally universal and would these bulbs fit Skoda?

These bulbs will be xenon gas bulbs, but not HID type bulbs (i.e, they will probably show a marginal improvement over the stock bulbs, but they aren't to be confused with the blue coloured high power lights fitted often to BMW's, Mercs, Range Rovers etc.). If they're stamped with H7 (someone correct me if this is wrong? I'm not sure on the dipped fitment on Octy 2's! :o) then they should be suitable.

That's correct, they have a tiny amount of xenon gas to slightly alter the colour the filament produces. They are nothing like HID's that use an electrical arc across 2 electrodes (about 5-6mm).

The dipped is H7 and the main beam is H1

Can you then install xenon kits for the high beams in the octavia?
