Few questions for a newbie...

Featured Replies

Hi guys.First of all just wanted to say its nice to see a decent group of enthusiasts who aren't complete a*seholes.

I am currently looking for a nice Octavia vRS to call my own. Before now it has been an unrealistic option,as I only turned 21 a few months ago.Now I can finally insure one,and the work situation is good,I want one!!

Just wondered if there's anything I need to look out for,any particular problems that are common?

Also, could someone give me a brief run down on the spec,as I have seen conflicting reports.I know they are 180bhp standard, with the half leather (which I love!) etc.But do they come with the xenons standard? Are they 5 or 6 spd?

I am looking to spenmd around £5.5k,not a huge amount I know but I should be able to pick up a decent early one for that right?Any pointers or cars for sale would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys

Si

Xenons aren't standard....

The mk1 vrs is 5 speed which will be the model you'll be looking at for £5.5k. You should get a great example for this:

Skoda : Skoda Octavia VRS TURBO

Skoda : Octavia VRS 180 BHP

Skoda : VRS 230BHP

Skoda : vrs 1.8 20v turbo

Skoda : VRS 1.8 TURBO

To give you an idea.

Make sure the cambelt / servicing has been done on time and also the plastic water pump has been replaced.

The seats can fray where the material meets the leather.

There are other bits which I'm sure someone else will fill you in with! :)

Welcome to Briskoda.

As above, cam belt every 4 years or 60K is the main one.

The "search" will help loads, search common faults.

Welcome to the site :)

I didn't realise you could get an Octavia for that much! £4K and less! I am going to have a look for an insurance qoute - bet that will knock me back!

Yep - insurance is over £1100! I hope you do better - I m 22 but had two accidents!
