octavia vrs

Featured Replies

hi there everyone,

ive just bought a octavia vrs and i love it but im looking for two extras.

dump valve&superchip.

if any of you have any info that would help me such as manufacturer, price(parts and fitted) and also the sound of the dum valve. i ask this because i thought they all sounded the same until the other day when i heard a golf with one that sounded like a hamsters fart!

thanks :)

Hi Jon and welcome to Briskoda as to your question the octy vrs does not like normal dump valves ( plays havoc with the ecu apparently) they are fitted with diverter valves that dump into the airbox to reduce turbolag and increase throttle response , but if you buy a performance air filter either a panel or CAI you will here the dump sound (psssshhhh) .

As for the superchip one your best bet is to tell us your location and then people can tell you where the best place to go is . Stay away from superchips and look into remaps , there are plenty of threads about which are the best .

Hope this helps a little bit .

thanks bud, id change my details(location)if i could find where to edit my profile/details.

i am a comlete novice with turbo's as this is my first but ive always wanted a dum valve....sad i know!

The hamster's fart sound was probably due to reverse fitting of the re circ valve

I tried it on mine once to see what it sounded like. I was home within 2 mins changing it back as it sounded awful.

I don't see any reason to avoid superchips, they are a reputable company.

There are several companies that sponsor Briskoda that will be able to offer you a remap.

For a DV try looking at the products from Forge Motorsports.

Superchips are reputable enough, but they don't have the same rep as folks like Awesome, Impossible, Jabba and Star do for VAG work.

I don't think thats an entirely fair comment Ken. They cover a whole lot more models that just VAG but I've always heard good reports about their work. Granted they may not squeeze quite so much power out of a remap but that is their style.

I'd cheerfully use SuperChips for Ford or PSA cars; it's just VAG I'd not use them for. Ok?

Presumably you're talking about their off-the-shelf generic remaps? Their custom remaps are as good as anyone elses imho, but I suspect for the money it would cost, you'd not see any benefit over one of the cheaper offerings from the other tuners....

The major attraction to me would be that they offer a warranty which, afaik, none of the other tuners do.

Chris

All I am saying is that they are a professional company with a lot at stake and they have been in the game for probably a lot longer than many of the 'usual suspects'. I'm not saying they are the be all and end all of remapping but I also don't think that it's fair to say they don't have a good reputation for VAG stuff.

Would a panel filter alone make that much difference? As I have been thinking about getting a Forge spacer.

The Forge Spacer is simply a noise maker.

The Panel Filters do make a difference - I had one for a while before the EVOMS.

Yep my is fair bit louder since i fitted a pipercross panel filter.

As soon as i bought my vRS. i wanted a DV to.

Its running with a CAI and i love the noise it makes now.

Assuming its a 1.8T:-

Revo (with SPS3)

N75 Upgrade (search the forum - I think a 'J' will be OK but check as I fitted it to a 210bhp S3 and it might be a little too strong for the Octy)

Samco Turbo Intake Pipe (keeps its shape and aids air flow. Std ones can collapse on remapped cars)

Forge DV (mine was a DV006)

Air Intake

Milltek exhaust (top quality, top looks, excellent sounds)
