Tomtom 6 Question

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just got this for my pda and it seems fine apart from one little niggle.

Whilst on a private test track the speed display changes to an annoying red colour which is almost impossible to read against the blue background.

Does anyone know if it is possible to turn this feature off????

Cheers

Hmmm, I run V6.580 on TT One v1 and it doesn't do this....

Does it change colour above a certain speed? (PM if necessary ;))

Steve

I was certain there was, however I cant find it, its show speed limits or something like that but it seems to have vanished (or possibly wasnt there to begin with)

Yes,

The display normally shows the speed you are doing and also the speed it thinks the road you are on should be.

This is fine if the Info is correct but a couple of the roads we were on yesterday were clearly showing national speed limit signs but the tt was incorrect. This instantly turned the readout red and made it really difficult to see the correct speed. The splurb says it's supposed to do this but I wondered if it could be turned off somehow??

Cheers

Under prefs somewhere is an option to turn off the screen if the road/pre-set speed is exceeded.

Find the option, and uncheck it. ;)

Thanks. :D Didn't half annoy me on the roadtrip to CZ. I ended turning the damn speed pref off, as I couldn't find any way to make it stop turning red/flashing (aside from obeying the limits, which weren't always correct anyway)

Have found the bit under safety but it was already set to never on turning the screen off??

Isthat the bit you meant for the speed readout??

I'm glad it's not just me that it is iritating too though. lol

Thanks for the help.

Cheers

this feature has only recently been added, i think it can be turned off in the settings. It is annoying as i have a local road that is 30mph and tomtom says 40. talex also syas the camera is 40 but its not and hasnt been for nearly a year.

Have this option on my EU TT Maps card, but not for GB. Must be my version of the software/mapping.

I did find it useful on the EU one when in France, but yes, it was wrong for some roads. Would be a help here, but only if it gives correct info of course

I searched for the settings to try to turn the red flashy thing off, but never managed. And yes....very annoying. This summers Irish trip was really annoying, as all of the speeds were set in mph, but reading as Kph (or something!), so it was always far too low, so could never see the speed.

Another really annoying thing is no longer being able to rotate the screen, like you can in TT5. My PDA doesn't haev any settings for doing that either. I preferred wide screen too.

Mine can be rotated :P

Mine can be rotated :P

Show-off:shakehead

The safety speed thing in the option is just for blanking the map and showing the next indication instead. It does nothing for the flashing red speed readout which I also find annoying as when it's bright, you can't read it easily against the blue background.

I also seem to remember the various numbers being bigger. It's a shame that if you do have the safety speed thing on so that above a certain speed you only get the next direction change, they don't increase the size of all the other text as there's a lot of space available on the screen :(
