Collection Day Confirmed at Last!!

Featured Replies

Ordered my VRS a month or so ago now and have been waiting anticipating this day for a while. I collect the car on Saturday (bit close for comfort re the 18" wheel upgrade etc but the dealer has been fantastic over the past few days allaying my worries:thumbup: )

Its a 450 mile drive to return the fleet car back to HQ in Sussex, and then collect the cargoing to watch Chelsea Fulham game and return home on Sunday:).

This should break the car in nicely for all the driving I have planned in it.... roll on the miles.

Look forward to updated you guys on Sunday/Monday about how everything goes.

How do you think I feel then !! I've had 10 weeks to wait and the cars still not in the UK yet !!

Why the difference between dealers? I was quoted 8-10 weeks, but am hoping for sooner... CelticLhad - just over a month, Nick - 10 weeks already - not exactly consistent!

Couple of reasons I guess :-

1) My car was ordered at the end of a build cycle and the next cycle was 10 weeks away ( guessing here ) CelticL order was closer to the build cycle so has his car sooner ?

2) CelticL may have purchased a car that was available already somewhere in the UK and they have delivered it by Steam Engine hence the month wait :D

Have just picked up my Vrs TDi hatch tonight & very pleased so far. Only waited 10 days too!

I'd better pull my finger out and get selling my current car, just incase its sooner than expected! Thanks Nick

:D

My VRS TDI is sat at the dealers waiting for me to pick up tomorrow, and has been for almost a week.

Only thing is they still haven't had the paperwork through for transferring the number plate from my existing car to the new one. I really, really, really, really hope it arrives in the post tomorrow.

Well ordered my Petrol vRS on 18th July, was meant to be getting it Saturday but have put it back to Monday 1st October as they would of taxed it from 1st September as I was due to collect Saturday plus it was a rush job as car was due to dealer tomorrow Wednesday 26th but will be Thursday instead. Didn't want to lose a months Road Tax for a day and having waited this long another couple of days wouldn't matter.

Number 1 is the closest! I ordered a new car that had to be built (see the options added at the bottom:eek: ) but insisted that they use one of the preorder motors that was about to be built.... as i understand it they order cars in advance and get told the build week.... up to a certain period before the build they can make all the changes they want --- therefore a normal VRS order became MY VRS order :D Thus kept it sweet with the offer for 18" wheels etc.

I was driving through broxburn (east of scotland) today and saw a similar black VRS with all the white sheeting still on it... couldnt help myself but look at it... someone else in Scotland is also getting a new black VRS too.

My elegance was only a 2 week delivery being standard (company car) but had to wait 3 weeks for current car to go back so its been in the compound for 3 weeks got to tell you all i was nervous.

Picked it up on Friday and got to say i love it, as ive upgraded this time from ambeinte to elegance im finding new things to play with.

Hope you enjoy your new car nothing better than new car smell and being the 1st owner.

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Number plate transfer not done, so I can't get it today.

I'm away tomorrow, so we've pencilled in Friday morning for me to take in the Furby VRS and drive away in my Octy VRS TD.

Dagnabit!! I feel your pain, nothing worse than waiting for something you desperately want! :(

You guys are sooooo lucky!

Ordered Octavia Vrs on 4th June for delivery mid August. It was a factory order, due to the list of extras. A couple of weeks before due delivery, I contacted the stealer to firm up a date. I was told that everything was on schedule and they would call me when a definite date was available.

Just as the stealer was about to hang up, I remembered a question I wanted to ask about the sat nav being fitted. The reply went something like this… Silence, followed by ‘Errr’, followed by further silence and another ‘Errr….Did you order sat nav?’

You know that sinking feeling you get when you just know someone has fu*%ed up!?

I then reeled off the list of extras required. ‘We will need to check this out’, was the reply.

I turned out that they had ordered a standard Vrs. Why the hell would a standard Vrs be a factory order? There must be loads of them lying around on the network.

They said it was too late to change the order and had several attempts to palm me off with alternative cars / spec / deals. My stance was that if I wanted an alternative, then that is what I would have ordered!

Big Do’s – Little Do’s, they had to re-order the car to the correct spec. Delivery due – End Oct / Beginning Nov!

To there credit ( I suppose ) they have provided me with an free 07 Ambient Tdi Estate to run around in until mine arrives.

This is the stealer before he gets my money. How will they perform once I have handed over the cheque? As selling / ordering cars is there business, you would think they would be able to get a small thing like ordering what the customer has specified, right first time. Wouldn’t you?

I only hope it is worth the wait once it arrives. Judging by the comments on this forum, it probably will be.

Enjoy you cars guys and think of me in my 140TDi pottering along the country lanes with a look of yearning across my mush!

Starting to feel truly blessed. I really feel for you mate.... I've had trouble concentrating just thinking about when it was going to be delivered. I hope that is the last of your troubles and that the rest of your experience is a good one. Oh, and the first time I put the foot on the gas I'll be thinking of you in your 140tdi :P

if your lucky and what you order is out there and aproaching an age where the dealer will have to pay for it in full, another dealer can normally get that car for you.

i would normally quote about 2 weeks to get a car from a dealer in the uk. then 8 to 10 weeks for a full factory order. but i would always try and get one from the network first, if i couldnt find the right options i would try and find a compromise.

I personally would rather have a factory build, just as i would see it as specially built for me and not just another one off the factory lines! I hope everyone gets their cars soon and more importantly as ordered!! :D

Ahmen to that, Woodenspatulas:thumbup:

And I've got it!

Took the Furby in this morning. Felt a little sad as it has been a great little car.

But right next to the salesmans desks in the showroom was my Octy so I could sit and admire it as we did the paperwork. That Racing Blue is a beautiful colour, and the 18" wheels really give it some presence.

So we did the deed, handed over the paperwork and then it was time for me to drive it off the premises.

First impressions, the power comes in a bit further up the rev range than the Fabia VRS. Seems the peak is about 2500 in the Octy compared to 2100. Acceleration is a bit dead from lower in the rev range.

There is a really nice roar from the engine when accelerating hard from 3000 to 4000.

Fuel economy is mid 40's at the moment, but I'm mostly driving sensibly for now. I expect this to improve as I do more miles.

Finally had a few neighbours over to admire it. It really is quite stunning, and I feel much more proud of my car than I did with the Furby.

sounds like you're off to a good start then :D
