BOSCH MAF P/Ns - please help

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Need your help urgently.

I own a 1.9 TDI Octavia (ALH, 90BHP) model 2001.

For quite a long time I had this notorious power fail problem and, following recommendations elsewhere in this forum, had my MAF replaced.

The car now runs completely differently - on one hand, fuel consumption is significantly reduced and I didn't get power fail again, but on the other hand it has no power at all - it "drives OK" but has no acceleration power nor "sprinting power".

I hate it !!!!!!

I also had my battery disconnected for about an hour to make the ECU "forget" the older readings.

I took the new MAF out and noticed that it has a different P/N than the older one:

The older one (about 3 years old) is 038 906 461 B (BOSCH 0 281 002 531) while the new one is 06A 906 461A (BOSCH 0 280 218 002).

Can someone please tell me if this is the correct P/N for my car? Should I incist on having it replaced?

Additional detail: the older MAF had a short pipe within the air path (about half of the outer pipe's diameter) while the new one is made of only one external pipe (air path).

Please advise. It's urgent for me.

Thanks.

It looks to me that the 461B is for the ALH engine. Did you order it from a dealer and by chassis number?

Was installed by the dealer. I just don't count on him.

OK. Thanks all. Been to the dealership today. Indeed a wrong P/N. Replaced it with the correct one and it now runs better than before.

I'm not sure, though, that it solved my "power loss" problem.

Give it a few more tries.

When you say power loss, does it go into limp mode?
