Wipers not turning off

Featured Replies

Hi all from sunny Barbados,

The wipers on my 2001 Octavia 1.6 are not turning off as they should and when they do, they do not stop in the parked position.

Any ideas of a solution to this problem

Decarloh

Replace the wiper motor.

Do they always stop in the same place? Do they wipe the screen, and not try and jump off the driver's side?

If the answer to both of these is yes, it's probably possible to re-set the park position on the spindles by taking the wiper arms off and replacing them a few splines differently. Otherwise, you need to reset the other end of the linkage with the motor stopped and the wipers in the parked position.

If the answer to the first question is no, I think you do need a new wiper motor.

If the above isn't entirely clear, post more on the wiper behaviour, ask further questions and I'll try and explain further.

Hmmm, was gonna post the same thing myself.

I too am having problems with my wipers, sounds as if its the same problem as above, though I could be wrong.

My wipers too won't stop, even when just knocking the arm down once for 1 sweep it keeps going, its bizaar. Any Ideas too?

Thanks Ken.

The answer to the first question was no. The problem was the motor which I had replaced.

Thanks once again.
