Limp Mode

Featured Replies

Right, got a bizzare problem.

If i turn my engine on, let it idle until the revs settle down after a few mins, then go to drive it, i cant get above 5psi, until the usual switch off/on again, then fine.

But if i jump in the car, drive it, and go above 5psi within the first few minutes, the car is fine, and never goes into limp mode.

VAG-Com showing nothing new, no CEL lights, and otherwise the car drives fine.

(apart from my faulty thermostat)

But it's been doing it since day one.

Any thoughts ?

Dodgy N75 possibly?

Could be..although i'd expect the problem to occur more often, not just when i dont take it above 5psi.

What about the other way round:

Drive it as soon as you turn it on, and after a while try pulling aside and let it warm a little.

What happens then?

Does exactly the same...goes into limp mode unless i drive it above 5psi.

Should've said, it does it warm or cold.

Hmm... :(

Have something alike (don't know about the PSI) - when left to heat it losses power - it may be while waiting on the driveway or while waiting for the lights to change (especially after a long jurney).

I'm sure it has someting to do with temperature - I live in a hot region (middle east) and it happens more often on daytime.

Mine involves also limp mode after harsh driving.

Tried several things - replaced N75 and all vacuum pipes, replaced the MAF, ruled out the A/C control unit and the intake air temp sensor (on the intercooler). To no avail.

VAG-COM couldn't find anything.
