Indicator oddness

Featured Replies

The indicators in my Octavia work fine but after around half an hour or so they stop flashing and instead come on constantly. After I park up if I click the ignition back on again the work perfectly again

Is this the relay breaking down or something else?

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

I'd say it almost certainly is. Its an easy part to replace and costs less than £20 so its nothing to really worry about.. so long as you catch it before it completely goes and you're not left without and indicators at all..

Yeap thats a real pain when that happens, stick the hand out of the window to indicate time. My relay lasted for a few months erratically, I did try clean the terminals but didn't know how far to strip it down, luckily died on the way to have its service so had it replaced there, must have a non oem one though as the hazards now sit proud when off and flush when activated. they work again and it didn't cost much so can put up with it.

Hi

Yes dead easy to do and it is just the hazzard switch

Go for the uprated one though

My hazzard switch already does this. I seem to remember the guy I bought it from mentioned something about the hazzrd relay being replaced. I was more concerned that he was testing the laws of physics down some country road :o

So the indicator relay is in/behind the hazzard switch?

Cheers Sarah, we must have posted at the same time :P

Not wanting to be lazy but can anyone link me up with what I need?

Ah great stuff, didn't realise the modified one was a dealer part :o

Yes

It says it is for towing too , that is all

Dead easy to do , so have a go yourself

I used to do them for warranty claims when I was at the dealership
