Damaged by street furniture.

Featured Replies

I have just had the dreaded phone call. She borrowed the car and has pranged it.

Apparently she was turning around and one of the bollards that comes out of the ground has risen up whilst she was on it and has scratched the car as it came up.

How would I stand getting them to pay for the repairs? I haven't seen what signage is up yet, or even the damage however surely these things should not rise if there is a vehicle on them.

These seperate a private (shopmobility) car park from a public road.

if there is no signs then take photo's and find out who is in charge of them and sue them.

Have you seen some of photos of people trying to beat the automatic self-raising bollards on bus routes

Sorry to hear about the damage through, hope its not too bad :)

Is this at the bottom of town by St Michaels?

I thought in most cases that the person with the car has no chance...?

I hope I'm wrong anyway, and that the damage isn't too bad.

St Micheals is the one. The story is not as was originally told. She reversed into the area and then drove out at too tight an angle catching the rear door on the two foot high fixed pillar. This pillar has a lot of damage where lots of peole have done exactly the same. The pillars just rose up behind her which she assumed caused the damage. The rear pass door is dented scratched, the side skirt is dented as is the bottom of the rear 1/4 where it meets the door. My bill then, anyone know someone close by who can do a good job for as cheap as poss?

It's a pain in the **** turning around down there, especially as people always seem to leave cars in the little bit that's there for you to turn around in. I had to do it the other nght and was scared that my car was going to get attacked by a rising bollard after reading this!

I saw you/your car today btw, I was going to McD's around 5.30 or so, saw you go onto the roundabout by the firestation. Car looked still looked nice, if it makes you feel any better!?

Looked even better before but thanks for the try at cheering up.

I had a friend wh's car got cought on a raising bollard... a BMW Z3 and caused a fair bit of damage... the company in charge forked out for repairs!!

So have a go at claiming!! Could work!!!
