Felicia leaks

Featured Replies

All of a sudden our Felicia has started to leak, rainwater pouring into passenger footwell & foam above fusebox is soaked. One circuit (temp gauge) blown. Footwell flooded to half an inch or more during the day.

Windscreen replaced July but can see no place that water is getting in. Tried pouring water on screen - no leak (must have rained hard today!).

I doubt it's the screen.

Any ideas?

Car is our son's & I suspect a write-off - too expensive to repair!

Was the rubber seal replaced along with the glass? If not your problem most likely lays there. It's the rubber seals that go on these cars.

If it's the rubber seal you have two options. One is get a small tube of silicon sealant, you can get it from automotive stores and screwfix, hold back the rubber seal gently and take the sealant all around to make a watertight seal between rubber and its mating surface. Or purchase a new seal and get someone to take out the glass and replace the seal, which shouldn't cost the earth.

Thanks, guys.

Not sure the rubber seal was replaced but there's no sign of leakage from above.

A misplaced tape underneath is possible but how would water get there? It must come from above, round the screen & as I say nothing can be seen.

It sure was gushing in, though.

Autoglass will be called out & we shall speak to local dealer (who is excellent).

Suspect entire dash has to come out right back to bulkhead & that will cost more than the car is worth.

We'll see & I'll post back - your info could be very useful.

Mine started doing the same last winter, regular floods, didn't believe it was the screen either. During another repair I got the garage to put black sealant round the rubber, haven't had a drop in since.

Oddly enough my wife's Felly which is cleaned oh, at least twice a year and has a Jurrasic forest in the window rubbers has never let a drop in.

I have the estate and have a leak in the back and I'm having trouble locating it.

The seals around the rear screen seem dry after a heavy downpore yet a pool of water collects under the carpet ..anyone have any tips

On my Favorit I removed the carpet and rear seats etc, poured water over the back, then got in through rear door with the boot left closed and looked and felt for water. I found it appeared to be leaking via the seal at the bottom. I bought some of the sticky strip bathroom sealant stuff from B&Q and put this across the tailgate where it contacts the rubber seal. This appeared to help slightly but water still got in. Then, I sprayed the rubber seal with pure silicone oil. I have occasionaly noticed slight dampness (could be condensation) but the wheel well hasn't filled with water. I'll bet if you go into your spare well you'll have a small pond in there as it all collects in there.

I would spray the seal with silicone oil first and see if that helps.

And welcome to the forums Skodamarvell!

Well, guys, Autoglass came today and resealed the screen. Shall have to try a hose at weekend - also a fan heater to dry all the foam!

Shall let you know.

Had exactly the same on 1.3 felly, passenger sponge soaked, blew out the fusebox and had to get trailored home, turned out that when i fitted a sub i passed the live wire past a seal behind the battery i forgot to seal it back up so 18months of rain had got in and just overloaded it.easy fix thou i just stripped the fusebox, cleaned and waterproofed all the connections etc.

Plus i put the seal back properly lol. :(
