Superb brake lights

Featured Replies

I've an annoying problem with my superb. The brake light failure warning light/buzzer sounds when the brakes have been applied for more than a couple of seconds. The brake lights work as they should so its not a bulb or switch. I changed the bulbs which solved they problem for a short while. The bulbs i replaced were not blown but were blackened slightly.

Looks like bulbs are overheating or something, they are the usual 12V jobs, has anyone had a similar problem.

Thanks

I had a problem like that on my Octavia. I had a fitted a new bulb which turned out to be faulty, when the filament got warm, it made contact with the side light filament and caused the error. Swapping the bulb fixed it.

Thanks for reply, but it did it with old bulbs and now its doing it with new bulbs.

Isn't the brake light warning lamp the same as the glow plug lamp (on diesels)? Perhaps it's something to do with that system as opposed to the brake lamps?

No this warnings just for brake lights, says brake light warning and only happens when I apply the brakes so :rubchin: . But I know what you mean a lot of VWs, Skodas flash the glow plug light when the brake lights fail.
