Fabia vRS brake replacment

Featured Replies

Evening all,

My 54 reg vRS has covered just over 61k and still has the original brake pads all round. Im on my 2nd set of front boots that will need relacing soon.

During a recent cambelt change my local dealer done the usual inspection and noted that they brakes look and operate ok.

Ive never done this kind of milage on a single set of brakes so im wondering if I should change them out of caution?

I should also mention the car does an 85 mile round trip on 95% motorways hence the high(ish) mailage!

Thanks for your advice

Andy

My collegue at work has a Seat Leon TDI 130 on an 03, its now done 100k and is still on the original brakes. Its just been serviced and the garage have advised that the brakes DONT need doing yet!!!!

He does 90 miles a day, 99% motorway.

Hi Andy,

I managed 95,000 miles out of the disks/pads on my car.

However I would say that the efficiency was dropping off by the end due to corrosion reducing the useful area of the disks.

If you do mostly motorway miles and don't to a lot of braking i.e. anticipate and lift off then there is no reason why they won't go on longer.

I would assume you have the benefit of wear indicators on a VRS, so I wouldn't worry.

Cheers

G.
