Scout gearbox went pop

Featured Replies

Driving through one of the less pleasant parts of Hull at kicking out time and I find the car revving away but not moving anywhere. Trying another gear I was greeted by a socket set in a tumble dryer type rattle. Same was true of all other gears.

Long story short the gearbox has given up after 5000 miles. Deep joy

Out cruisin' with the Hull massive again eh? :P

Sorry to hear about the gearbox failure.. hopefully it wont take too long to fix!

Not heard of a New Octavia gearbox fail before. How strange.

Fingers crossed its sorted swiftly and pain free!

Oh dear. I hope things work out well for you.

Hull Massive indeed. When I opened the boot to get the towing eye out some tramp/local thought I was starting a car boot sale and offered to buy the contents before stumbling his merry way down Holderness Road.

Initial diagnosis is a flywheel fault although they hadn't finished taking the gearbox off at that point. I think it is a bit more than that but we shall see...

Dual mass fly-wheel problem I wonder ?

Sorry to hear about the gearbox, where is the car now, is it in Barkers?

If so it should be OK, the Service Manager seems to know what it's all about.

Anyway, do they still have chucking out time in Hull, I thought it was drinking 24/7

Cheers, might see you on the mean streets.

For your sake I hope the service manager is better than the salesmen... :thumbdwn:

Got the car back today with a new clutch and flywheel. All works fine at the moment...

Despite the car going wrong in the first place it wasn't too painful an experience. Skoda Assist sorted recovery and a hire car. Skoda Customer services extended the hire car past the 48 hour limit no problem and the dealer fixed it.

It's just a shame it's not a joined up process and I had to deal with each individual entity.

Glad to hear your back on the road... fingers crossed it was a one-off :)
