EGR valve, warranty?

Featured Replies

Ive noticed recently that my egr valve is starting to leak.

I know skoda will change it under warranty but do they change

the turbo aswell and if so, what about the actuator?

Im just after some info before i take it to skoda.

Why would they change the turbo if the egr valve is leaking?

Ive heard that they might do but i must be wrong :(

Couldnt see why unless the oil is coming from the turbo but i'd doubt it.

I doubt skoda would replace a £1.5k turbo because a £40 valve has gone, but you never know :D

im only really asking because ive turned the actuator up so running more boost but if they did change the turbo then i would have to adjust the actuator again.

Odd thing is how does moving the 'actuator' mean its runs more boost? The turbo doesnt have a wastegate and the boost is controlled via the N75 and the engine ECU.

Shhhh, I'd keep that under your hat ;)

its a secret of how i did it :)

I dont think you will be running more boost now, all you will have done is changed how much boost you have at the start of spool up or maybe you will have a little less. Total will still be the same unless the ECU has been remapped.

my EGR was replaced under warrenty....

last year my car was 153 bhp on the rolling road and all it had was actuator thread made smaller and it had 253 ft/lbs of torque so must of done somthing:D

Standard cars have seen 150 bhp on the rollers before.

The fact remains the boost is controlled by the ECU. Even if the boost could be raised by adjusting the actuator when it reached the programmed level in the ECU it would back the VNT mech off or go into overboost and then limp mode.
