Hi,

I have an Octavia 1.9SDi, which spectacularly failed on me today.

Driving along normally, the engine just cut out. Whenever I tried to start it, it fired but cut out straight away. I called out the nice man from the RAC who found a fix for the problem by disconnecting power to the air regulator flap on the large air intake pipe. Since he has done this the car seems to have be running fine.

Does anybody know what's likely to be messing up the control of the air regulator flap?

Could be a faulty flap itself.

Does the engine just die or are you loosing electrics?

The engine just dies, electrics seem fine.
