Removing Symphony CD changer and replacing via Connects2: do I need to run cables?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

First post and really need some help, so hope you can do your best! :)

I have just bought a 2001 Octavia L+K - love it already but want to fit an MP3 CD changer in place of the regular one.

I've already ordered a Sony CDX-T70MX MP3 changer, and am about to order the CTASKS001 Connects2 adaptor as well, whcih I think is the kit I need to use it.

My question is this: Can I simply unplug the old Skoda CD changer, and plug the leads from it straight in to the Sony one, plugging the existing leads into the Connects2 box up near the head unit, or do I need to pull the cables out and replace them with the ones from the Sony changer?

I'm a bit nervous about laying cables all the way through the car - sound slike a messy job to me - so if I can keep the existing cables and just stick the Connects2 between the existing cable and the head unit, I'll be a happy man.

If I do need to lay the cables - is it a difficult/messy job or quite easy? I've not done anything like this before.

Appreciate any help...

Steve
