Clutches and flywheels.

Featured Replies

Just wondering wha people are running in terms of uprated clutches and flywheels.

Basically the clutch is slipping in my mapped fabia vrs, so i am after replacing that. I also think the DMF is not very healthy either as this has been giving some nice "wobbba" "wobbba" type vibrations at low revs, hardly under load.

Ive priced up a sach DMF and they come in at £234 delivered.

I was also thinking about converting to SMF, but i use the car everyday (120miles a day) so dont want to loose any refinement.

Open to suggestions

cheers guys ;)

The sachs DMF is rated to 280ftlbs the last time I asked about it. After that its SMF.

Really, thats poo! I wonder how wardy gets on with his 300lbfts :D

Just had a quote from awesome for 790+vat for the helix clutch kit and SMF, which i dont think is all that bad and i am now really tempted to batter the plastic :D

Out of interest Skud my good friend how many miles is your vRS kicking out? Mine is at 13k now and whilst I hate to admit it I have had one brief clutch slip in the last week. I'm not sure how your map compares to mine? My Jappasport Custom has a fairly steep torque curve which despite being what I asked for is possibly taking its toll already.

My remaped fab vrs lasted 2days on its standard clutch before slipping.

Any SMF will lose you refinement.

The sachs clutch has just got a higher biteing point up the pedal. Its the dogs balls.

I'm running a sachs paddle clutch and the standard dmf. Car's now on 19k and it's fine. The paddle clutch takes a little getting used to but once you do you're fine :)

had a paddle clutch in my olf mk2 golf, it was rather amusing coupled with the cam i had as the car would be spluttering at 1500rpm which i had set as my idle.

They seem to bite hard iniatially and then all of a sudden your off. Good for 1/4 sprints not good for stop start traffic TBH.

2 Days..... good man! lol

Yer thats my only worry as i have to live with the car in sheffields rush hour daily. :(

I am still tempted by the helix setup tho, as it will handle alot more power and i have big plans for the wee furby ;)

My map is very spikey with peak power of 170.6bhp and torque of 280lbft, the car is remapped, But for SKODA UK info it wasnt when it was under warrenty! :P

Its got 43k on now so i aint at all suprised that the clutch is nackered. I tend to drive the car pretty hard all the time. As some of you know ;)

I hope to be getting a steel single mass flywheel and a clutch rated to about 530 lb/ft for around £600. :) Should be bullet-proof if it works out how I want.

in traffic/around town its fine just like driving with a oem one. sachs has my vote with average tuning
