If your car has been dealer "serviced" then part of the schedule is to check and clear these drains (see service book). The reality is of course that the dealers don't bother because it's quite a bit of work.

You can do a quick functional check on these drains without much dismantling. Take off the battery cover and pour 1 kettlefull of (cold) water into the space to the right of the battery as you look at it. You should see 2 clearly defined streams of water draining out almost immediately. They must run - not dribble and there must be 2 of them.

Best of luck with a dealer - if you want the job done properly, do it yourself.

I have removed the slotted rubber bungs on my car - with the undertray there is no chance of road splash up there and with a big unobstructed drain hole at the bottom of the plenum chamber it can drain in the same way as any other car.
