Gearbox and clutch - HELP please

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a Skoda Octavia 1.9 SDI 2002 and my clutch slipped and my gearbox has a hole in it, this means i need whole new clutch and gearbox while Skoda are charging over £1100 just for the gearbox i can get reconditioned ones for about £400 and a clutch for £100 but i just need to know how i can make sure they will fit the car. I cant find out the codes of what i have because the stickers have come off, its done 130,000 miles, so i really don't want to order a gearbox and find its the wrong one. Anyone know how i can ensure i get the correct gearbox and clutch. also the clutch manufacturer said there are two types of Skoda that one or other clutch will fit, one is an AGP, the other an AQM, anyone know what that means? Any replies will be highly appreciated.

You need to look on line for a vin decoder for VAG or alternatively join freedom because a link can be found to one such site. You can then enter your chassis no. (VIN) and this will list your full car details including engine no., gearbox model etc.

Go and do some googling....

Oh and welcome to Briskoda as I see you are a newbie (as they say).

Hard sell time: Wrong 'box and clutch = £500 / Freedom membership = £12

Seriously, though, wlecome to Briskoda, and hope you get your car fixed soon!

Thanks, if i got a gearbox from exactly the same car, would it fit?

If it were for the same year then one would assume so....
