getting leather - unsure what to go for?? help needed!

Featured Replies

Im planning on taking my Fabia VRS to seat surgeons but im unsure of what to go for!

I like the look of the SE leather, are the centres perforated or not??

Im thinking for my car (Black Magic)

Main part of seat - Black Leather

Centre - Medium/Dark Grey/Charcoal leather, unsure perforated or not?

Stitching - VRS Green

Just to sort of lift the interior rather than all black?

Im unsure though - dont want to look a ****!

What are your thoughts?

Heres my interior as now, i know a lot of you prob wont like it but i think it lifts the interior and makes it a little less bland

I had the same dilemma. I ended up going for all black with perforated centres and grey stitching. Looks classy and easy to maintain.

Avoid light centres if you want them to stay looking good for a while.

Have you got a swatch kit from them? If not, phone up and ask for one and they'll send you some including a pack of photo's of the styles they offer (including example vRS pictures that they've done) :)

I dont have the swatch kit but i'll get one delivered

I seen a picture of a fellow members black vrs who had black seats with red stitching and it looked mint, so i thought i might try the VRS green stictching to tie in with the VRS colours a bit more.

Also i want my VRS badge in the normal position ( not higher up like most go for )

Very nice! im unsure on the perforated centres though, would really have to have a look at this swatch kit and compare between plain leather!

I dont know whether to take a gamble on the dark green or just go safe with black

Lot of money if i dont like it :(

Not sure they offer the moving of the badge. The seats they do are simply seat covers they replace the cloth with and these are pre-manufactured in a factory in China before being delivered to Seat Surgeons. They use a standard template and the only variations you can get AFAIK are the colours, styles of leather (perforated, gathered, solid etc) and stitching colours. Worth asking though.

Red stitching would look awesome though. The key with the leather colour though is to keep it subtle IMO. Garish stuff will become boring very quickly and you might not like it in 6 months time. Black is a sure fire winner but a dark grey is also a safe bet for perhaps the centres. Make sure it is a dark one though as it'll stay looking for for longer if longeivity is a concern.

Perforated centres were an alternative to a colour change in the middle for me. It was either perforated centres and/ or grey middles and I'm glad I went for perforated centres. I ultimately played it safe as I was spending £893 on the things and wanted to be happy with them for many years to come.

Have you seen all the examples on Stu's site?

Steve

Seat Surgeons showed me photo's of a yellow vRS with black outer seats and perforated bright yellow centres.

Was proper garish......looked insane on the photos and I imagine would become tiresome very quickly. But, it's a personal thing and if you want dayglo yellow centres, they'll do it!:D

What is this gathered centre??

Are these 'covers' compatible with heated seats??

Think Merc E class for the gathered leather....like all ruffled up. They ask you whether you have heated seats, side air bags and a centre rear head rest when you order to I assume so. :D

I have heated seats

No head rest

Dont know about side airbags?>

How can you tell

04 VRS if that helps??

Normally there's a badge on the sides of the front seats saying Airbag or something and some stitching round that area.

Cheers you have been very helpfull!!

Im thinking about the reversal colours now!

Decisions, decisions

i know for a fact whichever design i pick i'll pick the wrong one

Will still be better than the god aweful cloth! :thumbdwn:

:D No probs mate. Whatever you do will be a good move to be honest. The stupid white cloth is a nightmare to keep clean even if scotchguarded.

Bear in mind there's a bout a 3-4 week lead time on orders with Seat Surgeons and that's just for the covers to arrive. Then you've got to get it booked in for fitting which takes about 3 hours.

Post up some pics when it's done too. Always nice to see. :)

Got my phase 2 fabia rear lights fitted today

£76 or so!

Well happy ;)

How did you get on fitting the rear lights? Did the plastic surround come off easily, to get to that fourth screw?

Steve

I could be thinking of the wrong person but do you have playboy signs on your number plate?
