VRS Estate - High Level Brake Light Out

Featured Replies

Hi, anyone had a problem with the high level brake light failing on their VRS estate? The power to it seems to be OK, I've measured 12V on the black connector (in the boot) to the tailgate loom when the brake's applied. Problem definitely seems to be with the light (or possibly the tailgate wiring loom to it). Is there some way of removing the light from the spoiler to test it, it seems to be stuck on and impossible to remove?

all mk1 vrs estates fitted with high viz brakelights in the rear spoiler are are attached with adhesive,i would think this is best left to skoda.

from personal experince it is a real pain in the ........

I had 2 change under warrenty beucase of water in the units.

they take hours to change because as predator says they are bonded into the spoiler.

also the hole in the spoiler is too small to feed the plug through to the fitting behind the trim on top of the boot lid. this means that you have to dismantle the unit to de-solder the cable and resolder it back on to refit.

the only thing to do is double check is the conector behind the trim on the boot lid and check water has not got into that conector from the washer pipe

hope it helps

Light now replaced by Main Dealer and working again, but I'm £98 lighter in the pocket. Seems the light wasn't sealed correctly in the spoiler and water had got in, corroding the wiring... same problem as Iain. Might try running some silicone sealer round it.

That's clearly a manufacturing fault then.

I'd try Skoda CS to see what they say
