Hi,

I'm on my 3rd Octavia and to be honest I don't think I'll have another after this one.

I've definately got a friday afternoon one!

It's a 2.0 Diesel Octavia 2007MY.

Since buying it in Feb it's had a new door inner and handle, new radio/cd player, new inner boot trim and pull handle, and now it puts it's brake lights on over night so I wake up to a completely dead car :thumbdwn:

I'm hoping someone can help me out as my dealer isn't that good, and restore my faith in Skoda.

Rachel

hi and welcome to briskoda rachel...

sorry to hear bout your troubles with octavia you certainly seem to have found a bad 1. :(

hope the dealers sorting everything out under warranty.

stick with it you will soon have a new car...

Welcome, I hope the Dealer sorts it out for you :)

Hello and welcome to briskoda

Sorry to hear about your probs

Have you had water get into the boot? May have got in to light housing and shorted something to do that.Do you have any warning lights on the dashboard. Cant think what else it could be but im no mechanic.

Hopefully dealer will sort it. An idea for you would be to hook it up to someone who has VAG-COM (if you know anyone near you) then you will be able to see any fault codes and will know if the dealer tries to fob you off

Hope it gets sorted soon for you

Carl

Welcome

Hiya.

The brake lights fault is one of 2 things - either a short caused by the water ingress (at least I presume that's why you needed it retrimmed) or a misadjustment of the switch at the pedal end.

Thanks for the advice.

I have no idea why they replaced the boot trim!!!!!! The pull handle (the dangly bit) had come off and to re-fit they had to remove the trim, I assume they damaged it when getting it off.

There is no water ingress that I know of, I'm hoping it's a switch problem. Problem is that now it is setting the alarm off in the night. I assume that the brake lights are coming on, the battery drains, the HM stop light then switches off and the change in voltage turns the alarm on. Great for meeting the neighbours at 05.00!!! (we've just moved into a new house)

Hello and welcome. Sorry to hear of your problems, I would just keep at them until it's sorted. Hopefully won't be like my dads octavia which has been off the road at the dealer for approaching 2 months, most of this time in bits over the garage. Hope yours is sorted soon.

The pull handle being the webbing one inside the back door/tailgate yes? If so the trim is awkward to get off, and an absolute burger to get back on again: DAMHIKT! ;) So you're probably right that the door trim got broken by the garage.

Other prospect now suggestion itself for the brakelight issue is damaged wiring to the high level light, probably around the door hinge.
