Just joined. Proud owner of vRS Octavia TDI PD. Wanting to find out a bit more about anyone's experiences relating to use of biodiesel. If I can use bio this really will make this the perfect car!

Hello and welcome. A great car the TDi vRS. I don't think it can use Biodiesel, someone with the exact knowledge will be along soon. Enjoy your motor.

Wanting to find out a bit more about anyone's experiences relating to use of biodiesel. If I can use bio this really will make this the perfect car!

I hope this doesn't sound like I am being a smart-a***, but if you look under the heading "Fuel", sub-heading "Diesel" in your Owner's Manual, you may find some words like these -

"Your vehicle can be driven with the following grades of diesel fuel:

Diesel fuel with a cetane number of at least CN 49...Diesel fuel must comply with the standard EN 590...

Biofuel (RME rape oil methyl ester Biofuel) must comply with the standard EN 51 606...

"Biodiesel conforming to the standard E 51 606 can be mixed in any desired ratio with diesel fuel conforming to the standard EN 590"

"Performance may be reduced slightly...Consumption may increase slightly...if you switch to driving with biofuel"

If you don't see any references to Biofuel in your Owner's Manual, then the manufacturer implys you may only use diesel fuel. I have to drive too far to get biofuel (same engine as yours, I think), so at the moment it makes no economic sense for me to try to use it.

Hope this helps.

Hiya.

AIUI you can not use biodiesel with any Unit Injector engine, as it lacks sufficient lubricity for the high pressure injectors used.
