I was going to play with a Windows Small Business Server 2003 Dell Poweredge SC1420 for someone but wondered if I removed the SATA drive from the server and stuck in my test PC can I use Acronis Trueimage Workstation 9.1 to make an image of the server's drive as a backup?

I'm just curious if there's anything 'special' with a server file system as opposed to a normal XP machine - I've used Trueimage lots of times to image drives before repairing PCs, it's so easy.

Nothing special about the filesystem, but slaving the drive may bork your XP installation- something gets confused about bootable drives. It is fixable, but a PITA.

Personally, I always leave the drives in the server and use ghost/pqdi over the network.

Is there a RAID controller in the poweredge?
