Just had a letter from my local dealer advising all Superb's aged 4 yrs> to have a cambelt change on VWs recommendation.

Is this correct? I read it was 100k for my 1.8T, which is fairly high - I planned to do it at 80k.

How much am I looking at? Any info would be useful, thanks and sorry if it's been discussed before... :thumbup:

If it would damage the engine if it snapped, it is better to take precautionary action. I am sure VW are recommending this with good reason, possibly because belts age as well as become warn with mileage, increasing the possibility of snapping or slipping.

- better safe than sorry I suppose. I had a cambelt snap on an Escort years ago. Expensive.
