fair doos, you probably know the pros and cons, but if you want any info on the remap pm me :)

I am a second hand high miler man.....

Please tell me you DID NOT say that to woo you're missus?

anyone got a K&N on their skoda then?

Yes. Mine's done about 15k now. No problems as yet, not been cleaned either. It's getting a bit dark but it's still flowing better than the paper element, perhaps seen a couple of MPG but no major gain.

LMAO.........we both know each other's history.........in fact we both come with a FSH.....LOL!!!

Is the K&N noisey?

Ordered my Pipercross Filter from Awesome GTI through Sarah today and look forward to 'hearing' or maybe even 'seeing' the difference!!

lol, not as such but the holes in my airbox are ;) I know, I'm such a ****.

Does sound ok though, engine sounds much "bigger" than a 1.9, which is good in my book. I wanted it to be a little different than the old-man-ish standard, so I thought I'd give it a go. Incidentially you can really hear the turbo, and you get a nice boooom-ti-ti-ti-tish (that's my best impression of a dump valve, honest) on peak boost.

It's not a massive Cosworth-style sound, sure - but of course the Superb's not a Cosworth-style car. Init.

Btw, all I used was a hole borer I knicked from work, my lower airbox now has five holes the size of a parking sensor. You don't need anything massive to get results.

You have to be joking me? I did this on my Nova......LOL!!!!

Have you not had running problems with dirt inside the airbox? I know that I did.....

So whilst every one who has a bit of knowledge are fitting cold air induction kits to their cars to increase the amount of cold air into the engine to give more power, .............. you have undone VAG's development work by drilling holes in the airbox so all the cold air now comes out of the holes rather than into the engine

Hm, actually it's not made that much difference. For a start, I'm not sure how 5 1/2" dia holes on the opposite side to the egine can make much difference.

Secondly, my car's a diesel so in actuality more cold air does not equal more power. In fact, possibly the reverse is true.

Anyway, I've gained nothing in terms of power by fitting a K&N - what I have gained in is durability and in the removel of the performance falloff found as paper elements get dirty.

Oh, and incidentially anyone who has a bit of knowledge doesn't fit an induction kit as a power gain... :P

I've, er, not looked in my airbox recently... *coughs*

Anyway, as I said they're only about 1/2" diameter so I don't think I'll get many leaves in there.

I have drilled the lower part, by the way - the bit before the filter... your Nova, was it an SPI or an MPI? It's easy to drill the wrong bit of an SPI's airbox...

I don't want to patronise your technical knowledge, but you were driving a Nova...

Quite, we can see you don't understand why a cold air feed if fitted.

Secondly, my car's a diesel so in actuality more cold air does not equal more power. In fact, possibly the reverse is true.

If i was you i would patent your idea and sell it onto VAG then and make yourself a fortune, they obviously misunderstood all their dyno work and development

Oh silly me! i didn't realize that the K&N's didn't get dirty

Oh, and incidentially anyone who has a bit of knowledge doesn't fit an induction kit as a power gain... :P

Correct, they fit a:

cold air induction kits
Oh silly me! i didn't realize that the K&N's didn't get dirty

Hm, I don't remember acually saying that... check K&N's flow rate data of a K&N element vs a paper element over a period of time and you'll see what I mean.

Anyway, what's with the sarcasm...? At which point did I said that drilling the airbox or fitting the K&N improved my performance?

SPI? MPI? WTF?!?!?!

The Nova was great at the time but looking back on it now I do wonder what phase I was going through......LMAO!!!!

single point or multi point injection, and it's too late now, we all know.

It was a 1.0 litre beast so just the SPI.......LOL!!

That's cruel... some of our customer base aren't *****.

I just haven't found them yet, lol

LOL......most of the people I used to serve in Halfords were your average 'Joe Bloggs' but as soon as the Ripspeed department opened it did change very quickly........

Hmm, I suspect I may have this to deal with all over again... Ripspeed.com launches on Wednesday, and as I've just moved to the web team and I'm the only person there who knows a dump valve from a spigot ring, guess who's the only member of the Ripspeed support team?

Sounds like it's going to be busy for you then mate........
