Panel Filter Replacement

Featured Replies

Hello

Who knows if you can upgrade the air element in a 2005 Superb? I see K&N do one for a 2004 Superb, but don't list any others for a diesel. Mine is a 130 1.9 joby.

Anyone done it and is it worth it? Comments appreciated, :)

Haven't done this on mine as I am not totally coonvinced that Panel Filter's help but I am sure that if you buy one for a 04 Superb it will fit you 05 Superb....

Personally speaking, £40+ for a filter that will only give you more induction noise (on a Superb???) is a waste of money.

The OEM filter will do just as good a job at a fraction of the price.

Hi

I have been running a Pipercross filter in my car for a while now

As soon as I put mine in I found that the fuel economy went up by apprx 4mpg

There was a slight amount of noise too

The Pipercross ones we sell for £28.00 + VAT

Standard ones cost apprx £12.00 + VAT so about double the price of an OEM one

The OEM one says it requires replacing at 40k , but in reality you should be looking at every 20k

I ran mine for over 40k and was only really dusted free and kept the good fuel economy

Pipercross had mine back a while back and a standard filter was put in mine and the fuel economy never returned

Until yesterday as I put another Pipercross filter in and I got an extra 3mpg on my journey

It is not a large expense for the filter , lasts longer and also returns better fuel economy for me

Are those prices for a Superb Pipercross filter?

Yes £28.00 + VAT for all the Pipercross panel filters

Thanks for the info, do you work for Pipercross btw? I have always found replacement panel filters useful, just aids the efficiency me thinks rather than any real performance improvement.

I have always thought at worse it is a filter that doesnt need replacing! If you have high powered turbo cars there may be a very small performance improvement, not on our sort of cars obviously, but I just feel it helps keep everything at its potential :)

Agree mate........I have just always wondered whether it will shorten the life of the MAF......

K&N one fits the superb ....slightly increased noise ...more mpg.(1 to 3 mpg)..and it helps mine breathe a bit easier  also less smoke......

Sarah supp;ied that as well :)

How long have you had it under your bonnet mate?

Any running problems?

I have seen many cars in for warranty claims on MAF`s when I worked at the dealers

These was cars under 3 years old and with standard filters in

So I do not believe for 1 second that these filters damage the MAF`s

Yes we do K&N too

The K&N ones are a bit more expensive

These are made from cotton gauze instead of foam

Both very good filters , and up to you guys which one you prefer ;)

Sorry another one to think about

Sarah

Been sat in ther for 20,000 miles at least, have cleaned and oiled it twice and so far no problems, may pay to clean the MAF soon, but then they get dirty anyway.

Did your filter come with cleaning oil then?

anyone got a K&N on their skoda then?

No I bought a cleaning kit ......but oldness is fogging my memory and I can't remember where I got it from....either Sarah or Ebay ......but it works well anyway

I've got a Green Panel Filter in mine (sourced by Sarah when she worked for JBS) and I have to say its been quite good in my car. You do get more induction whoosh which I do like and you could feel a slight increase in pull through the mid range. Worth the buy....

MMm

The Green Cotton filters are cotton gauze just like the K&N ones

Having had both , they are much of a muchness

I chose Pipercross this time , to try but al;so as it does not need the cleaning kit

Like I said mine was on for 40k , was about ready for a clean yes , but ok

For £28.00 + VAT may have been worth just putting new in

But the cleaning kit for the Pipercross one is £4.80 + VAT as it does not need reoiling when cleaned

K&N cleaning kit £9.99 + VAT as this comes with the reoiler that is needed

Sarah

Thanks for all the replies........I will be in touch shortly Sarah and thanks for your PM......
