Came out to my car this morning and opened the passenger front and rear doors and found water (not much I will admit!) over the interior seal and dripping down the plastic and onto the matts!

Not just the rear but the front as well!

The car was parked lopsided with the drivers side at a considerably lower angle than the other but doesnt really excuse does it?!

What are my options... car is out of warrenty... should I just ignore it (there wasnt a huge amount of water) or get it sorted DIY style.

I'm aware of the carrier tutorial for the rear but what about the front?!

Its the same method for the front too Easy job, main part is getting the door card off.

I see that the actual kit costs £43.

Would it not be ok to use a normal black sealant.. such as used in bathrooms and on windows?

I remember taking the door cards off on my corsa... hours of fun!

i just sealed around mine with gearbox silicon sealant we have at work , no more leaks

I used windscreen glue. No more leaks here either.

Reading with interest your post on this forum about leaky doors.

I have a Fabia 1.9tdi estate, 54 plate I bought it 6 months ago and at the weekend found large amounts of water in the rear door sills and footwells. As it was due to do for a 60,000 miles on tuesday I mentioned the leaks to the dealer and she said oh that will be a water ingress problem, she said that she would have a word with skoda and see if she could get some good will as the car is only just out of warrenty otherwise it would csot £130 to fix both doors which as you can imagine I said had to be done. After looking at this forum in hindsight I see that it is a common issue with the cars.

I was phoned on tuesday pm to be told that Skoda had not only agreed to pay for the doors to be resealed but had instructed to do all 4, great I thought, given that the service was already over £400 because of the Cambelt change. When I picked up my car on Wed night I was greeted by a bill for £560, skoda had only agreed to pay for 80% of the labour charge for the work so I ended up footing the bill for the rest and the repair kit for the doors £88 . Althought my car now has 4 sealed doors I still think that skoda have an issue here that they need to address in production. As for the dealer well unfortunatly thery are the nearest and so I will have to keep going to them for servicing but will watch the bills that they charge.

Surely if you were un-aware that you would have to pay anything it means that the dealer implyed that it would all be paid for? Ifs thats so I would demand they pay for it and accept nothing less, especially if they mislead you to getting something you weren't nessesarily going to do.

I have been on to the dealer today to discuss the bill, the guy said that the service manager is busy but she will phone me back.

Not sure where I stand with this, a verbal agreement is binding , but it is not her that is commiting to cover thecost it is Skoda Uk. so maybe I need to get on to them.

Wish I had looked at this forum before I went on tuesday, armed with the knowledge that this is a major issue with the cars, and not just a fault with mine alone would have put a different slant of the conversation I have with them I think.

skoda attempted to repair my door seals on no less than 4 occasions, but they still kept on leaking. i found a very simple fix in the end... i just sold the car.

I fixed mine for £5, went to DIY and bought some silicone sealer, took door cards off, used the sealer, replaced door card, job done!

Had both doors done eariler in the year (three attempts) and now I'm greeted with massive steaming up of the car in the mornings.... had a look, one of the doors is leaking still. Suspected it but wasn't sure as it tended to dry off pretty quick in the warmer months
