Bought a key off ebay.......

Brand new but cut....

so i planned to take the blade off the other working key and fit it to this fob...

1 will this work???

2 will i need to programm it and if so how???

The reason to do this is the current key fobs look f*cked

think it has to be done by vagcom? the programing side, not sure though, also check the manual coz you can recode something via the drivers door.

As I remember you unlock the door with the key then press either lock or unlock (cant remember which one) on the fob and that programs it to the central locking system, hope that helps

The guide above works perfectly for your central locking, but your key won't start the engine unless you have the immobiliser chip in the key programmed using VAG-COM...

However...

You can take your old key to bits, pop out the little immobiliser chip and put it in your new key, saving yourself the hassle / expense of finding a mechanic / dealer with VAG-COM. I did this last week, when upgrading my old standard Fabia key for a flip-style key.
