Drivers Door Handle

Featured Replies

I have noticed on three occasion this week that after pulling the external door handle on the drivers door to enter the vehicle it has not returned to its original position.

Common fault ?

Trip to the dealers or just some WD40 ?

Funny you should say that.

Happened to me for the first time once this week too.

Maybe the cold/wet weather? Although mine's an 06 too so maybe gonna turn out to be a common fault when they reach a certain age... :(

I would try some WD40.

But then my mechanical skills are based on WD40 for anything that should move but doesn't, and duct tape for anything that does move but shouldn't!

I have an 06 octavia II, what kind of mileage you done. I have clocked 23,000 with no signs of any faults.

hey, that's pretty sound mechanics:)

Slider what you think of the dsg, I av it and its awsome.

My 54 reg Octy Ambiente did the same for months, till I used some WD40. I am picking up my newer 06 Elegance tomorrow, and if it develops the same fault, the WD40 will come out again!

my 06 on 45k has done it and so has my mates 55 plate on 73k. Skoda lube them up with some thick yellow greece on services now.

Mine are too. Will either of those perfectly sound techniques work for punctures or running out of diesel or do they need another level of expertise?

You only ever need 2 tools - WD40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, spray it with WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't, tape it up. :o)

LOL

Ha, this seems to be global problem.

It happened to a few buyers when Octy was launched in Chinese market, and have been easily fixed by spraying sth like WD40.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

I have sprayed the door handle with WD40 when "in" and "out"

This seems to have resolved this

Thanks all

mines doing it too! out with the WD40!

Mine has just started doing it aswell.

Interesting thread as I had the very same problem but I generally ignored it as it was sporadic (my solution was to buy a new car to get rid of the problem ;). Don't get sticking on the new car :D)

So you buying another new car soon then? :P:rofl:

i have 2006 Octy vrs and have been suffering this problem myself the past few weeks. WD40 is all good and well but if its under warranty get yourself to the dealer. If there like mine they will replace it for free no questions asked!
