skoda favorit

Featured Replies

hi, picked up a Mreg favorit glxie (not estate version) last night its got 38000 miles on the clock no rust anyware was stood fora year and just put batery on and away it went was going to be spares but my fav hit 120000 miles a while back and is now nearin 121000 has lost all the power it once had, ok little of point now but what im wondering is this glxi has central locking and a alarm which i think is a rapid 400 ? key to turn it on, then theres another key in the dash but as soon as i open the door the alarm goes off....does that mean there should be a remote ?

my old man had a glxie silver line, and that had some strange key you had to put in the dash somewhere

but we naver had a remote for it.

All of the Favorits with the immobiliser (glxi and glxie only I think) had those keys, with four contact bits that go in only one way around.

As for the alarm mine doesn't have one. It could be an aftermarket unit? It sounds like it should have a remote key, as surely the alarm should be disabled before entering the car? I'd probably try get rid of the alarm.

well thers a slot on the dash with a flashing red light were a key would go i wasnt given the key but with the alarm off nder the bonnet its all working, i dont think its aftermarket its got skoda stamped all over it and also on the key

What normally happens is you put the key into the slot, this turns on the red light, you take it out then the light stops flashing and you can start the car. If you don't start it soon enough the immobiliser comes back on the light flashes and it won't start.

If you have no key for it and it starts my guess is the previous owner had the immobiliser bypassed. Does the red light flash as you drive?

if flashes all the time immobaliser appears to still be all connected up

Thats strange - can you still start and drive it? you shouldn't be able to - it should disengage with the key and then you should be able to start it. The key is green and has two contacts on it.
