Rear left light warning

Featured Replies

I have a new RS Estate and the warning light for bulbs comes on on start up. The information panel reads, "Rear left side light not working" or something to that effect. I checked it out and yes two bulbs appear not to illuminate in the brake light. Is it A) an easy fix no need to bother the dealer B) Too hard to do, get the dealer to muck around with it C) It (warning information) has come on sometimes and not others when starting D) Connection or bulbs.

I picked the car up Friday last week So I've had it 3 days. What to do?

If it's easy for you to get it back to the dealer then let them do it, the car is only a few days old and there shouldn't be any bulbs popping quite yet. Let them sort it out. Besides, it might not be the bulbs but a wiring issue.

At that age, of 3 days, i would go back to the Dealer and get them to sort it, as Dstev mentioned, there shouldnt be bulbs blowing yet.

But of course, Bulbs arent likely to be manufactured by VAG, so they may not do anything for free, as they can't be held fully responsible for the lifespan being short.

So maybe going to a dealer will be a wasted journey. But i still would, just in case its more than a duff bulb or two.

Has any other light come on to compensate for it not working? eg indicator etc etc

Seen something about this when having a play with VagCom before.

There are several possible redundancies but not all of them are applicable in this country.

IIRC if a rear light fails the brake light should run at a reduced voltage to compensate.

I had a problem like that...you will still have to make a trip to the dealer unless you know somewhere than can sell you a proper Skoda rear brake light! The pins on the skoda for the light are slightly offset...so don't buy the ones Halfords give you!!

Should cost no more than £1.50 from the dealers in anycase! I bought a spare just in case it goes again! Its a 2 min job to swap out!

Eh?

I used 4x Halfords non-orange Indicator Bulbs in my car. They all fitted with NO problems, and you can find offset pin bulbs pretty much everywhere that sells auto bulbs. These offset pins are pretty common TBH.

Plus its hardly a "proper Skoda light" as the OE bulbs i removed have "Japan" and "Stanley" stamped on them...

I'm talking about the rear light/brake light. Not indicator bulbs.

I've not seen the bulbs anywhere else...not really checked other than Halfords though.
