4X4 Prop shaft bearing

Featured Replies

bought a 4X4 turbo a couple months ago. Noticed soon after a rubbing noise. According to the S/H dealer I got it from it was a corroded prop shaft bearing. They greased it up and all was fine. But after driving through the heavy floods and rain recently the noise is coming back (very slight, only under power up hills).

I think the bearing must be in a bad state. How easy/cheap is it to replace? Is it a split bearing or a complete ring (i.e taking the prop shaft out job)???

i might well have a spare prop very soon as i am doing the 6speed upgrade which means changing the front section of the prop. so i may have the part you need going cheap :)

Looking at the parts diagram, the bearing is a complete ring. The price for it a couple of years ago was £105!

Balls. I think I'll have a look at it again at the weekend and grease it up a bit.

once mine is done if the bearing is available then the offer should still be there :)
