Felicia Diesel wont start

Featured Replies

Hi Can anyone shed a little light on this. My 1.9 Felicia diesel recently became difficult to start, particularly when cold. Yesterday it refused to start at all, even with jump started from another car. It isn't 'firing' at all. Fuses checked & seem OK. What next?

Thanks:rofl:

Glow plugs?, did you check the big 50A glow plug fuse under the bonnet?, these fatigue and break over time.

A couple of litres of paraffin per full tank of diesel helps in cold weather.

:iagree: with the glow-plug checks too.

Glowplugs, and if all else fails, about 5% petrol.

Thanks, will try those

Paraffin is slightly thicker than petrol, has some libricating qualities AND is less than 50p a litre ;) Petrol is certainly easier to do it with :) (Old Merc diesels can run on paraffin & German Taxi drivers invariably lived in houses heated by oil - not that a Skoda diesel can because it has Lucas, lord of darkness injector pumps, not Bosch. What I'm saying is that paraffin or home heating fuel is better for diesels than petrol.)

...because you do not pay fuel duty on it. In other words, you are technically advocating a breach of the excise acts, which could theoretically result in the vehicle being siezed by Customs.

You're right on technical grounds, but not otherwise.

I'd go with the regulations that say 2500 litres of SVO can be used p/a and plead stupidity M'lud :D (Now if only we could use 2500 litres of ANY fuel p/a tax free... :P)

Yes check the fuse

I also had problems with my coolant temp sensor

Also may be worth checking glow plugs

Needed more on the SDi than on the new modern PD TDi`s
