Cold Engine Starting Problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm having a problem every morning on my way to work. Every time a turn on the engine(when's cold) I have to try one or two times. When the engine star I wait a few minutes and then leave. My problem is that after a few meters without any sign the rpm's goes up (6000 -7000rpms) and i have to shut the engine down. After that the engine won't start up until a few min's. And everyting stays normal.I have a 1.4, 16V AUB engine.

I'll apreciate any opinion, thanks,

Could be a problem with the throttle valve. It may just need resetting.

Could also be an air leak, have a look at the vacuum pipes, especially the servo hose.

Get the fault codes read and that should give you a better idea.

Thanks for the reply,

I have one question:

How can I reset the throttle valve?

Needs to be a dealer visit im afraid unless you have access to VAG COM

OK, thanks.

The ECU have an Lambda sensor failure, do you think that's the only cause.

If this is this sensor standart? I ask you because it's very expensive over here (Dominican Republic) in the dealer. And I think maybe I could get the references And buy it in other place. I found a site http://www.lambdasensor.com/ but the fabia isn't there. I think that the sensor is the same for all the skodas but i'm not sure.

Thanks for the help, I really apreciated!

The sensor for the Octavia is the same as for older Skodas so the Fabia's might be the same. But if you send www.lambdasensor.com an e-mail (select Contact at the bottom of their page), they will be able to advise you of a suitable replacement part, price and postage.

Sensor is unique, produced ONLY by NGK, wideband OxySensor.... 200 euros in Germany
