Odd locking, wacky windows and hot mirrors!

Featured Replies

My mums car has turned into a demon.

It started innocently enough....

On opening the driver or passenger door the door courtesy light flashes on and off continually until you put the key in the ignition.

Then....

Sometimes the doors would not unlock,

sometimes after being locked they would unlock themselves

sometimes only the driver door would unlock and none of the other doors could be opened at all.

The garage could find nothing wrong and as it's an intermittent problem they weren't very helpful.

The windows were feeling left out, so...

On trying to drop the driver window both passenger and driver window dropped, but

raising driver window just raises driver window!

again intermittent problem so no help from dealer.

The battery keeps going flat overnight yet a check of the state of the battery says the battery is fine.

Now the heated wing mirrors have decided that it's not enough merely to warm the water/ice away they are trying to incinerate it. The mirrors get so hot that when getting out of the car and brushing against one almost caused a burn!

So please can anyone help my mum, she's really struggling with this car (6 year old Fabia estate) and not one of the 4 garages she's taken it to seem able to help. Added to this the nearest of the Skoda garages is over 1.5 hours away from her so it's a trek and a half to get there.

possible fault on the convenience module

for the battery to go flat , something is turning itself on overnight or not being turned off when the ignition is off

is the switch for the mirrors in the off position ?
