Audience - What is 'AIM'

Featured Replies

My car arrived without the manual for the Audience Radio/CD. Dealer sent me one for the 'Stream', but it doesn't cover all the Audience features.

I've worked out how to load CD/MP3 disks, tuned the radio, set the sound up, but I am baffled as to what 'AIM' is - or how (or even why!) to use it.

Leasing company called me today for a 'customer satisfaction check', they have promised to get the correct manual for me, but in the meantime, WTF is it??

It records the last 10 traffic bulletins if you have TP turned on.

ready - AIM - fire

:D

So its GTFM rather than RTFM.

So by the time I have remembered how to use it, I have ploughed into the back of the traffic jam in front of me.....

I had TrafficMaster in my last car (Rover75) and found it useful, I've never found TP much use.

Thinking about geting a Gramin with Traffic. Any comments?? (Apparently TomTom with Traffic is not so good).

And yes, GTFM then I can RTFM!

AIM is really simple, switch on TP before you turn the stereo off and leave the car. Then during the time ranges you setup, it records the traffic news when the RDS signal is triggered. Return to car, turn on stereo and press the aim button. The stereo then plays the travel news starting with the newest first.

Strangly in France it works differently, recording traffic news even with TP off.

Interesting.....I don't leave TP on and I'm sure AIM works ok for me.

Is it only during the predefined time ranges travel news can be recorded, or does it record travel news regardless of time ranges when the stereo is switched on? In other words is it possible to repeat a message you just heard but perhaps didn't get all details?

slightly off topic - but is there anyway to keep the TP switched on?

if i change the radio band to MW/AM it switches it off, and i have to manually turn it back on next time I change to FM.

the wifes Golf (55 plate) keeps TP on, even when on MW. when it picks up a travel bulletin it switches back to FM, you hear the traffic report and, when the bulletin finishes, it switches back to 5Live.

thanks.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 310 which came with the traffic adaptor. I've had VERY mixed results.

No traffic coverage between Glasgow and Dumfries in May 2007

Warns of delays in the opposite direction of travel

Sometimes doesn't pick up delays.

TBH I've almost given up using the traffic adaptor. The nuvi itself is ok though. Works well as a phone handsfree unit (or it did before I exchanged my nokia 6230i with a 6110 Navigator) To be fair it still works as a handsfree but can't read the phone book any more. When I asked Nokia what the crack was, they tried to tell me that using non-nokia accessories could cause mechanical damage to the phone and invalidate the warranty! With a bluetooth device??? :finger:
