question about hot engine start

Featured Replies

Im owner of octavia 1.9 tdi. Here in Slovenia everybody tell me , that I have problem with software. In Slovenia can repaire problem with start engine and it cost 125€.So, who know, is the problem with software or is another thing to repaire.

I have seen them with a hot start problem. If it starts properly with the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT) disconnected it is likely to be a fault with the engine control unit (ECU) - which in the UK is lot more than 125 euros. I have seen two work arounds for this:

The first is to wire the the ECT wire to the ECU through a switch, when you want to start it from hot use the switch to break the circuit and switch it back when the engine is running.

The second is to use a 5 pin relay instead of the switch. Wire it through the starter solenoid wire so that when the starter operates the ECT circuit breaks.

You could check also the injection pump timing and the valve on top of the fuel filter.
